Last class we learned about the Kansas Nebraska Act and how it lead to the bleeding Kansas. Then how it turned into politics fighting each other. When Charles Sumner was attacked by Preston Brooks because of what he said. Then how the Dred Scott case raised a lot of controversy. Today we learned about the Lincoln-Douglas debates and the issues they touched on.

Last class we read the slave document by Fredrick Douglass about the forth of July. It was interesting to look at the forth of july like that it is a very different view. Today we learned about how the Kansas Nebraska act came to be. Also about how Kansas became a battle ground over slavery. Then we answered questions about what went on and how the law was passed.

Last class we read Uncle Tom's Cabin in class. It was an interesting story about a slave catcher looking for eliza a women slave who has run away to go meet her husband. Today in class we discussed the story in class. We also got a hand out about the fourth of July and Fredrick douglass' view on it. As he sees it as a gross celebration that white people do which is weird how he looks at it in that way.

Yesterday in class we read some articles from the constitution and had to look at it from two point of views. We had to look at the constitution as a slave document, then as not being one. Today we went over it and got the details on the writing assignment we have for the type of view we personally have of the document. Also we read two passages one on Lincon and his stance on slaves, and another one the mud sill theory and views of slaves from that type of thinking.

On Friday we got into groups and read a document of a slave. My story was about children from an African tribe getting kidnapped. Then we created a comic script about it. Today we made a Venn diagram on all the parts of the stories from everyone. We also did a worksheet on people who were important in slavery.
